About Testers Tree Surgeons
Testers Tree Surgeons is a family-run business built on experience, reliability, and straightforward advice. Established in 2017 and backed by over 25 years in the industry, we’ve built a strong local reputation for quality work and a professional, tidy approach.
Most of our work comes from repeat customers and recommendations — something we take pride in and work hard to maintain on every job. We’re known locally for being reliable, easy to deal with, and carrying out work to a consistently high standard.
How We Work
A straightforward, honest approach
We know that choosing a tree surgeon comes down to trust. Our aim is to make the process simple from the start — clear advice, realistic recommendations, and work carried out properly.
Whether it’s a small job or a larger project, we take the time to understand what’s needed and explain the best way forward. That might mean carrying out the work as planned, or in some cases, advising that it’s not necessary.
We approach every job with care and attention, making sure everything is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
You’ll always get a clear, honest view of the job, with no pressure and no unnecessary work.
The Team
A hands-on team you can rely on
The business is led by Simon, owner and founder, who brings over 25 years of practical experience to every job. He remains closely involved in the work itself, ensuring each project is carried out to a high standard from start to finish.
Chantel manages the day-to-day running of the business, including calls, emails and scheduling. This keeps everything organised behind the scenes and allows the team on site to focus fully on delivering the work properly.
Alongside them is a reliable, experienced team covering a wide range of tree work across the local area. Every job is approached with the same focus — safe working, clear communication, and leaving the site clean and tidy.

Our Tree Surgery Services
We cover a full range of tree surgery services, from routine maintenance through to more complex and specialist work.
Whether it’s a single tree, a full site clearance, or ongoing maintenance, we approach every job with the same level of care and attention.
Responsible Tree Work
Working with the environment, not against it
Tree work isn’t just about cutting and removing — it’s about making the right decision for the tree, the property, and the surrounding environment.
We plan every job carefully, checking for nesting birds, protected species, and anything that may be affected before work begins. Where needed, we adjust timings or approach to make sure wildlife and habitats are protected.
Where possible, we prioritise reduction and maintenance over removal, using correct pruning techniques to support long-term tree health. All work is carried out in line with recognised standards, including BS3998.
All waste is handled responsibly, with green waste recycled and materials reused wherever possible. We also take care to minimise disruption on site, leaving everything clean, tidy, and as we found it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a tree surgeon cost in the UK?
Every job is different, depending on the size of the tree, access, the type of work required and how waste needs to be removed. The best way to get an accurate price is to arrange a visit, so we can assess the work properly and provide a personalised quote.
Do I need permission to cut down a tree?
Some trees are protected by Tree Preservation Orders, conservation area rules or planning restrictions. Before any tree is removed or heavily reduced, it is worth checking whether permission is needed. We can advise you on the next steps before work begins.
When is the best time of year for tree pruning?
The best time depends on the tree species and the type of pruning required. Many trees are best pruned outside the main growing season, but this is not always the case. We assess each job individually and recommend the safest and most suitable approach.
When should you not cut hedges or trees?
Tree and hedge work should be approached carefully during bird nesting season, which usually runs from March to August. If there are active nests, work may need to be delayed. We always take a responsible approach before starting.
Is it better to reduce a tree or remove it completely?
Where possible, reducing or reshaping a tree can be a better option than removing it. However, if a tree is dead, unsafe, badly positioned or causing damage, removal may be the most practical solution. We will give honest advice based on the condition and location of the tree.
Do you remove all waste after tree work?
Yes. Waste is removed and handled responsibly, leaving your garden or site clean and tidy. This includes branches, hedge cuttings and general debris from the work carried out.
How quickly can you come out to quote?
We aim to respond promptly and arrange a suitable time to look at the work. Timescales can vary depending on workload and location, but we will always come back to you as soon as possible.
Do you offer emergency tree work?
Where possible, we can help with urgent tree work, including storm-damaged or unsafe trees. If there is an immediate safety concern, please contact us directly so we can understand the situation and advise on the next step.
